Health Canada issued a warning on April 19, 2012 that Actos may increase the risk of  bladder cancer.  Pursuant to an agreement with the manufacturer, Takeda, the label to the drug will be changed to address the risk.  As many of you will remember, the FDA issued a similar warning on June 15, 2011 which associated Actos with bladder cancer.

The Canadian warning was issued in response to a study by Health Canada which found that users of Actos are more than 40% more likely to develop bladder cancer.  This finding was consistent with a study by the French Medicines Agency which indicated that long-term use of Actos could increase bladder occurrences by as much as 40 percent.

If you have used Actos and have developed bladder cancer please contact the Taylor Law Firm.  We are handling cases across the country and would be happy to discuss your potential claim with you.  You can email us or call 855.646.4355.
