Personal Injury Attorney, Gerald B. Taylor Jr.
Serving Alabama, Mississippi & Florida including Mobile, Pascagoula, Gulfport, Biloxi & Pensacola
Jerry has been practicing law for over 25 years. He grew up in Alabama and graduated from Samford University in Birmingham with a major in Business Finance and a minor in Music Performance (in an earlier life he traveled the world playing in a band). He graduated from The University of Alabama School of Law and subsequently went to work with a large defense law firm in Orlando, Florida. He began his career defending large, multinational manufacturers of products from all over the world. Jerry handled his first major trial months after graduating from law school and won his first verdict for his client on a plane crash insurance contract dispute involving millions of dollars.
After 5 years of defending big corporations, Jerry switched sides and began representing only individuals. He eventually moved back to Alabama and practiced with the biggest plaintiff’s law firm in the state. He began his own law firm several years ago and has now represented and tried lawsuits for people in all kinds of cases and in states all over the country. For many years, he exclusively represented residents and families in nursing home cases. Jerry has probably handled more nursing home cases for people than any other lawyer in Alabama. He also won the largest verdict ever in a medical malpractice nursing home case in Alabama against the largest nursing home corporation in the United States.
Jerry has developed a national practice in the area of mass torts and product liability, primarily pharmaceuticals. He has been selected by his peers and Federal Judges to many Plaintiff’s Steering Committee’s (the lawyers who make the decisions and prepare the case) in multi-district litigations, including the Bextra/Celebrex MDL in San Francisco, the Fosamax MDL in New York City, and the Chantix MDL in Birmingham. He has chaired and been a member of numerous working committees in MDL’s around the country including the Avandia MDL in Philadelphia, the Vioxx MDL in New Orleans and the Trasylol MDL in West Palm Beach. In this work he has taken depositions on behalf of the plaintiff’s steering committees of numerous high ranking corporate officials of pharmaceutical manufacturers across the United States, and internationally in cities such as Amsterdam and London. He was a member of the Bextra/Celebrex Trial Team and cross examined Pfizer’s only witness in the Bextra/Celebrex Daubert Hearing in San Francisco, which determined the course of the litigation.
Jerry has lectured all over the country for legal organizations such as the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Florida Trial Lawyers Association, the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Washington Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers, the Western Trial Lawyers Association, the Washington State Bar, the Oregon State Bar, Mealey’s, Harris Martin, Mass Torts Made Perfect, the ATLA Nursing Home Litigation Group, the Cox-2 Litigation Group, and the Byetta Litigation Group. He was Chairman of the Byetta Litigation Group for AAJ. He is admitted to the State Bar’s of Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi and Texas.
Jerry is married to Lisa Whigham Taylor and they have three sons: Boyd, Christopher (Critter) and Rob. They live in the beautiful city of Fairhope, Alabama on Mobile Bay and they attend the Church of the Apostles in nearby Montrose.
